Product Advertisement

2. Ad 1: Holiday bundle that includes Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Sega Super Star Tennis, and 5 Arcade Games.

Ad 2: Wal-mart ad, price drop on the premium bundle $50-$350 from the original price, set at approximately $650

Ad 3: Halo 3 Special Edition Bundle for $399. Includes the system, 20Gb Hard Drive, a copy of Halo 3, a controller, and a headset, all with a Halo custom finish.

Ad 4: Resident Evil 5 Special Edition Bundle for $399. Includes Red Xbox 360 Elite system with a matching wireless controller, A cop of Resident Evil 5, a headset, 120GB Hard Drive, down loadable Resident Evil 5 Xbox 360 dashboard theme and a card for downloading Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

Ad 5: A European exclusive for $347 is a Halo Bundle. It includes the standard white system with the controller, a copy of Halo 3, a copy of Halo Wars, 60GB Hard Drive, and a 1 month Xbox Live Gold Subscription Card.

3.  My product is over the Microsoft Xbox 360 and the various special edition systems.

4.  This product is branded as a home entertainment gaming console to connect to other people and events world-wide. The image is to sell a gaming experience like no other, with some of the best computer animated graphics and level design for each game released on the console. There really is no difference than what I just typed.

5.  The Xbox 360 has only one slogan: Jump In.

6.  The Images on the ad are of the system itself, sometimes of the package if it is a bundle. For example, on the Halo 3/Halo Wars bundle packaging, there are UNSC Spartans and  Covenant Elites  marching into battle. On the arcade system package, it has a bunch of different designs, all in a shade of translucent light green.

Branding: Project 3

Select a product...
Example-

American Eagle Jeans

Ray Ban Sunglasses

Mountain Dew Livewire

1- Find and save an image of your product and upload it as a comment with the following questions.

2- Find five examples of advertisements for your product. Save these ads in a folder and refer to them to answer the following.

3- Describe what your product actually.

4- Describe how they are branding the product. What are they really selling? What is the image? How is that different than what the product truly is?

5- What slogans or text are on your ads? Type it all in.

6- What images are on the ads. We specific. Describe them with adjectives. Paint a mental picture with your words.

7- Plan an ad of your own that we will start on Friday.

Branding: Project 3 Example by Lindy Andersen

This is an example of the final project that my super-awesome former student and current photography major did many years back. She researched Silver Jeans and wanted to sell the image of youthful, cool, artsy and edgy.
After doing her research, Lindy shot her friend, Sarah Schwarte, in a pair of those jeans. She then manipulated the image creating a multiple Polaroid effect.

Aaron's Pepsi Ad

Pepsi Ad

Starting from a blank canvas, create an ad for a new product of Pepsi.

Think about branding.

Think about how to link your new product with the established brand of PEPSI.

Invent a catch phrase of your own to help sell the product.

Use the following steps to begin your design.

1- Fill the background with a deep blue color. Reference the Pepsi bottle in the room for ideas.
2- Create a rectangle across the middle of the canvas with the marquee tool. Fill it with white.
3- Fill the area above the white with red.
4- Now manipulate the image to create your ad.
5- Don't forget a logo on it when finished. Use a font style that will reflect the selling point of the ad.
